Our Programs

Maintain low student to teacher ratios
Provide a colorful and balanced curriculum, which includes language, numbers, science, art, music, dance, foreign language, and more

A Typical Day

All students arrive at the same time encouraging daily communication between parent and teacher. Children start each day with first circle in which daily activities such as calendar, helper of the day, and attendance is done. New activities and “Sound of the Week” are introduced in a multi sensorial approach so as to engage “all” types of learners. Children then go to playtime where a wide range of instructional methods are used. Clean-up time, snack, and playground follow next. Each day ends with story time and songs. This daily schedule is duplicated in all classes, lending easy transition when moving from one class to another.

2 to 3 years old

Children 2.6 to 3.3 years may attend either two or three mornings a week. This will be your child’s first school experience and we realize the importance of feeling secure in a new environment. Our experienced teachers will nurture and care for your child in a gentle and loving manner, while focusing on their individual needs. more

Old 3ʼs
The focus of this class is to continue the foster independence in the same nurturing environment that was available in the previous year. They are busy learners. Teachers give your child opportunities to explore and investigate through play encouraging independence and self-awareness. Introduction of language and math skills are more emphasized and incorporated in everyday activities. more

Pre-Kindergarten 4’s
Children 4 – 6 years may attend either a half day of full day program. The classroom has many centers’ allowing for independent choice. Through the use of multi sensorial activities located in these areas, we cultivate critical thinking and problem solving skills needed for success in literacy, math, science, and art. more

Kindergarten Enrichment
The Kindergarten Enrichment program is designed for children who are currently enrolled in an AM Kindergarten program. The individualized program is designed to aid and enhance language and reading development. Enrichment is 1 or 2 days per week in the PM session. All activities support current kindergarten curriculum goals. more

Our Spanish Program
We all see not only the benefits of knowing a second language but see the ease with which young children can acquire this skill early on. more

Artist Appreciation
This class is hands-on, sometimes messy, always exciting and very fun. The goal for the class is to encourage the children to create art from the heart and to identify themselves as artists. more

Now We’re Cooking
We head to the kitchen to whip up some favorite recipes. The children make banana bread, muffins, and apple tarts. The benefits of cooking with children go far beyond the delicious edible results. more

Dance & Music
Your child will be exposed to both dance and music as part of their everyday curriculum. Developing early dance and music skills has been proven to help students with math skills. more

Summer Programs

Come join the fun at First Step this summer. We have planned six (6) fun packed weeks for children 3 to 5 years old. Our ½ day program provides students with engaging and educational experiences. Weekly themes introduce your child to Space Exploration, The Ocean, Dinosaurs, and more. more
